Working with Metadata/Copying and Pasting Metadata

Copying and Pasting Metadata

Efficiently manage your library by copying metadata between images.

Why Copy and Paste?#

  • Consistency: Ensure similar images have identical tags, descriptions, and categories
  • Credit Conservation: Analyze one image from a burst and paste to others
  • Speed: Quickly apply pre-verified data to multiple files

Basic Copy and Paste#

  1. Copy: Select the source image in the filmstrip and press the copy shortcut, or choose Copy Metadata from the command palette.
  2. Select Targets: Highlight the destination image(s). Use Shift+Click, Cmd/Ctrl+Click, Select All Images, or a visible range command.
  3. Paste: Apply the metadata using the paste shortcut or the command palette.

Selective Pasting#

To copy only specific parts of the metadata:

  1. Copy the source metadata as usual.
  2. Select your target image(s).
  3. Open the command palette and choose Paste Title, Paste Description, Paste Keywords, Paste Categories, Paste Helper Text, or Paste Additional Info.
  4. The selected field is pasted to the selected images without changing the other fields.

Tip
