Adding Folders

Learn how to import your photo collections by adding folders to MetaPhotoAI.

Method 1: Add Folder#

Use this method when you want the most predictable path for keyboard navigation, screen readers, or automation.

  1. Click Add Folder in the folder panel header.
  2. Select the folder that contains your images or videos.
  3. Click Open in the system folder picker.
  4. The folder appears in the Folders panel and MetaPhotoAI starts loading previews.

Tip

Add Folder stays visible in the folder panel header because it is the primary way to add a folder.

Method 2: Command Palette#

  1. Press Cmd/Ctrl+K to open the command palette.
  2. Type Add Folder.
  3. Choose the Add Folder command.
  4. Select the folder and confirm the system picker.

Tip

The command palette is useful when you do not want to locate a toolbar button visually.

Method 3: Drag and Drop#

Drag and drop is still available if you already have Finder or File Explorer open.

  1. Locate the folder containing the photos or videos you want to import.
  2. Drag the folder into MetaPhotoAI.
  3. Drop it on the folder panel, preview area, or filmstrip.
  4. Wait for the folder to load and thumbnails to appear.

Tip

Drag and drop can be fast, but Add Folder and the command palette are easier for accessibility tools.
