Configuring Metadata Limits
MetaPhotoAI allows you to set specific limits for titles, descriptions, and the number of keywords generated by the AI. This ensures your metadata remains within the character and count constraints required by various stock agencies.
Quick Configuration from the Metadata Panel#
You can adjust limits directly while viewing your images:
Hover over label
In the Metadata panel (right side), hover over the label for the field you want to change (TITLE, DESCRIPTION, or KEYWORDS).
Click gear icon
Click the gear icon that appears next to the label.
Adjust limit
A small popup will allow you to enter a new numerical limit or use the up/down arrows to adjust the value.
Save
Click "Save" to apply the new limit.
Global Configuration via Application Settings#
To set default limits that apply to all new projects:
Open Settings
Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top navigation bar.
Select tab
Select the relevant tab from the left sidebar: Titles, Description, or Keywords.
Adjust values
Adjust the Maximum Length or Maximum Keywords values.
Note
These settings will serve as the baseline for all images unless overridden by folder-specific settings.
Folder-Specific Metadata Limits#
For more granular control, you can set unique limits for a specific folder:
Select folder
Select a folder from the left directory browser.
Open Folder Settings
In the right-hand panel, click the Folder Settings tab (folder icon).
Enable
Toggle "Enable Folder Settings" to ON.
Expand sections
Expand the Titles, Description, or Keywords sections.
Set limits
Enter your custom limits (e.g., set Maximum Keywords to 40 for a folder that needs more tags).
Stock Agency Requirements#
Different stock agencies have different requirements:
| Agency | Title Limit | Description Limit | Keyword Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adobe Stock | 200 chars | 400 chars | 50 keywords |
| Shutterstock | 200 chars | 200 chars | 50 keywords |
| Getty Images | 250 chars | 400 chars | 50 keywords |
| Dreamstime | 200 chars | 200 chars | 50 keywords |
Tip
Configure folder-specific settings to match each agency's requirements, then process your media accordingly.
How Limits Affect AI Generation#
When you generate metadata, the AI respects your configured limits:
- Titles: AI generates concise titles within character limit
- Descriptions: AI produces descriptions that fit within the boundary
- Keywords: AI generates up to the maximum number of keywords specified
Limit Priority#
| Priority | Setting Source |
|---|---|
| 1 | Folder-specific limits (if enabled) |
| 2 | Global application limits |
| 3 | System defaults |
Warning
If you switch to a folder where specific settings aren't enabled, the application will revert to your global defaults.
