Clearing Metadata

Whether you need to correct an error, start fresh with new AI instructions, or remove specific details before exporting, MetaPhotoAI makes it easy to clear metadata from your files.

Batch Clearing Metadata#

You can clear metadata from multiple images or videos at once using the action bar or the context menu:

Select media

Highlight the files you want to update in the bottom filmstrip.

Choose method

Use either:

  • Action Bar: Click the "Clear" button in the toolbar below the main image view
  • Right-Click: Right-click on your selection and navigate to the "Clear" sub-menu

Select action

Choose what information you want to remove.

Clear Options#

Clear TitleRemoves only the title field
Clear DescriptionRemoves only the description field
Clear KeywordsRemoves only the keywords
Clear Additional InfoRemoves supplementary metadata
Clear AllRemoves all metadata fields at once
Reset Upload StatusClears the record of whether the file has been previously uploaded

Clearing Individual Fields#

If you only need to remove a specific piece of information from a single image:

Select the image

Load it into the main preview area.

Hover over field

In the right-hand Metadata panel, move your mouse over the TITLE, DESCRIPTION, or KEYWORDS label.

Click eraser icon

A small eraser icon will appear next to the label. Click it to immediately clear the text in that field.

Save changes

Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the panel or use the keyboard shortcut.

Warning

Unlike batch clearing, clearing individual fields requires a manual save.

Common Workflows#

Regenerating with New Settings#

Update settings

Modify your helper text, system prompt, or folder settings.

Clear existing metadata

Select files and use Clear All.

Generate fresh

Click "Generate Metadata" to create new metadata with updated settings.

Preparing for Different Agencies#

Clear specific fields

Remove fields that don't meet the new agency's requirements.

Regenerate

Generate metadata with folder settings configured for the target agency.

By using these clearing tools, you maintain complete control over the information attached to your visual assets, ensuring your library remains clean and accurate.
