Exporting Metadata to CSV
MetaPhotoAI makes it easy to export your image and video metadata into CSV (Comma Separated Values) files. This is essential for batch-uploading your content to stock photography platforms that require a separate metadata sheet.
How to Export a CSV#
You can export metadata for all files in a folder or a specific selection:
Select media
Highlight the files in the filmstrip or select a folder in the sidebar.
Click Export CSV
Locate the "Export CSV" button in the bottom action bar.
Select a template
A dropdown menu will appear with several industry-standard templates.
Export
Selecting a template will immediately generate the file. A green notification will appear once the export is complete.
Built-in Templates#
| Template | Agency |
|---|---|
| Adobe Stock | Adobe Stock format |
| Dreamstime | Dreamstime format |
| Shutterstock | Shutterstock format |
Accessing Exported Files#
Click notification
Click on the green status notification that appears after exporting.
View file
MetaPhotoAI will automatically open your computer's file explorer and highlight the newly created CSV file.
File Naming Convention#
Exported files are named automatically using the format:
[Agency]_[FolderName]_[Date].csv
Example: Shutterstock_BeachPhotos_2024-01-15.csv
Managing Templates#
To customize or create new templates:
Open template manager
Click "Export CSV" and select "Manage Templates," or go to Tools > CSV Export Templates in the top menu.
Edit or create
In the management window, you can:
- Edit existing templates to change column headers or order
- Create New Templates with custom fields
- Duplicate templates for slight variations
Batch Exporting#
If you need to prepare your files for multiple agencies simultaneously:
Click Export CSV
Click the "Export CSV" button.
Select Export All
Select "Export All Templates."
Generate all
The application will generate separate CSV files for every template you have configured.
Tip
Batch exporting saves you from having to run each export individually, perfect for submitting to multiple agencies at once.
CSV Content Example#
A typical exported CSV includes:
| Column | Example Value |
|---|---|
| Filename | beach_sunset_001.jpg |
| Title | Golden sunset over tropical beach |
| Description | A beautiful sunset with orange and pink... |
| Keywords | sunset, beach, tropical, ocean, sky |
| Categories | Nature, Travel |
Workflow Integration#
Export CSV works well with other features:
| Feature | Usage |
|---|---|
| Batch processing | Generate metadata, then export |
| Workflows | Include CSV export as an automated step |
| FTP upload | Upload images, submit CSV separately |
Note
By utilizing the CSV export features, you can ensure your metadata is perfectly formatted for any stock agency, allowing for rapid and error-free submissions across multiple platforms.
