Collections and Smart Collections
Group images manually with collections, or let smart collections stay current from rules.
Creating Collections#
Collections live in the lower part of the left panel. Use the + button in the Collections header, the File menu, or the command palette to create a New Collection, New Smart Collection, or New Collection Set.
Tip
Collection sets are containers. Use them to keep client, agency, or project collections together.
Manual Collections#
Use a regular collection when you want to curate a hand-picked group of images. Select images, add them to a collection from the image context menu, then open that collection from the left panel whenever you need that group again.
Smart Collections#
Use a smart collection when membership should update automatically. Add one or more rules for fields such as rating, color label, pick flag, folder, filename, capture date, file type, dimensions, keywords, title, description, warnings, upload status, or searchable text. Choose whether the smart collection should match all, any, or none of the rules.
Tip
Smart collections are useful for reusable work queues, such as unrated files, five-star exports, missing metadata, vertical images, or a specific client folder and file type.
Command Palette and File Menu#
Open the command palette with Cmd/Ctrl+K and type collection to find collection creation actions. The same creation actions are also available from File > New Collection, New Smart Collection, and New Collection Set.
