Image Audits
Find duplicate and near-duplicate images before exporting metadata or uploading to stock agencies.
What Image Audits Are For#
Image audits help you review a folder for duplicate, repeated, or visually similar still images. Use them before CSV export, FTP upload, or a final client delivery to catch frames that might look too similar for stock review or clutter a finished batch.
Tip
The audit is a review aid. It never deletes files or changes metadata on its own.
Running a Similar Image Audit#
- Open the folder you want to review.
- Click More options in the bottom action bar.
- Choose Similar Image Audit.
- Adjust Match sensitivity if needed.
- Click Run Audit and wait for the progress bar to finish.
How Matching Works#
MetaPhotoAI scans decodable still images in the current folder and creates a small perceptual fingerprint for each one. It compares those fingerprints locally, then groups files whose visual patterns are close enough to match the selected sensitivity.
Tip
Lower sensitivity reports only very close matches. Higher sensitivity catches more variations, but it can include more false positives.
Reviewing Results#
Each result group shows images that appear visually related. Use the thumbnails, closest-match percentage, selection controls, reject markers, and reveal buttons to compare files. You can mark likely rejects inside the audit dialog, then reveal files in Finder or File Explorer when you are ready to remove, move, rename, or keep them intentionally.
Privacy and Current Limits#
The audit runs on your computer, and image data does not leave your machine. It reviews the current folder, skips videos, RAW files, and images that cannot be decoded for the audit, and does not save duplicate decisions as file metadata.
