Searching and Filtering Folders
As your media library grows, navigating through a long list of folders in the directory browser can become time-consuming. MetaPhotoAI includes a built-in search tool to help you find and access specific folders instantly.
How to Search for a Folder#
Locate the search box
In the left-side "FOLDERS" panel, find the input field labeled "Search folders..." at the top of the list.
Enter your search term
Type any word or part of a word that is in the name of the folder you are looking for.
View filtered results
The folder list will automatically filter as you type. Only folders containing your search term will remain visible.
Clear search
To return to your full list of folders, simply delete the text from the search box.
Search Examples#
| Search Term | Result |
|---|---|
food | Shows only folders with "food" in the name |
house | Shows "Around House Editorial" and similar |
2024 | Shows all folders with "2024" in the name |
beach | Shows "Beach Photos", "Beach Vacation", etc. |
Tip
The search is case-insensitive, so "Food", "food", and "FOOD" will all match the same folders.
Benefits of Folder Search#
| Benefit | Description |
|---|---|
| Speed | Jump between different projects in seconds without scrolling |
| Organization | Easily locate specific sets of images even in large directories |
| Efficiency | Spend less time searching and more time processing your media |
Combining Search with Favorites#
For maximum efficiency, combine folder search with the favorites feature:
- Search to find a folder you'll be working with frequently
- Favorite it by clicking the star icon
- Filter by favorites to see only your current working folders
- Search within favorites if you have many favorited folders
Note
The folder search only filters the sidebar list—it doesn't search for content within folders. For content search, use the Global Search feature.
Next Steps#
- Use Global Search to search across all media content
- Favorite your folders for quick access
- Filter media within folders by metadata status
