Global Search
MetaPhotoAI includes a powerful global search feature that allows you to find specific images, videos, or folders across your entire library by searching through titles, descriptions, and keywords.
How to Use Global Search#
Locate the search bar
Find the search input field at the top center of the application window in the main navigation bar.
Enter your keywords
Type in any term you are looking for (e.g., "meatball" or "nature").
Review the results
A dropdown menu will appear, divided into two main categories:
- FOLDERS: Shows any folders whose names match your search term
- IMAGES: Lists specific image or video files that contain the search term in their metadata
Understanding Search Matches#
MetaPhotoAI doesn't just show you the file; it shows you why it matched your search. Under each image result, you will see a badge indicating where the keyword was found:
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Title | The keyword is part of the image's title |
| Description | The keyword was found within the detailed description |
| Keywords | The keyword exists as one of the assigned tags |
The results also display the file name and the path of the folder where the file is located.
Fast Navigation#
The search results act as direct links to your assets:
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Clicking a Folder | Immediately switches your view to that folder in the directory browser |
| Clicking an Image | Takes you directly to that file, loading it into the main preview area and highlighting it in the bottom filmstrip |
Search Scope Indicator#
Look for the icon in the search bar to know your current search scope:
| Icon | Mode |
|---|---|
| Globe icon | Global Search (searching all imported folders) |
| Folder icon | Folder-Specific Search (searching only the current folder) |
Tip
Click the icon to toggle between global and folder-specific search modes.
Search Tips#
| Tip | Description |
|---|---|
| Be specific | Use unique terms to narrow results |
| Check all matches | Review title, description, and keyword matches |
| Use partial words | Search finds partial matches too |
