Local AI Processing

Process photos using local AI models without consuming cloud credits.

Benefits of Local Processing#

• No Credits Required: Photo metadata generation is free
• Privacy: All analysis performed on your machine
• Offline Access: Process your library without internet

Note: Video metadata generation is currently only available online.

Setting Up Ollama#

1. In MetaPhotoAI, go to Settings > Local Processing.
2. Download Ollama from ollama.com/download.
3. Install and launch the Ollama application.
4. Ensure the Ollama server is running.

Downloading AI Models#

Open Terminal (macOS) or Command Prompt (Windows) and run:

ollama pull gemma3:4b

Recommended Models:

• Gemma 3 4B: For mid-range hardware
• Gemma 3 12B: Higher accuracy, requires more resources

Enabling Local Processing#

1. Go to Settings > Local Processing.
2. Toggle Enable Local Processing to ON.
3. Use the top bar local-processing control to see or change whether local processing is active. When local processing is disabled, the control announces that local processing is disabled and can be clicked to process locally.
