Extra credits can only be purchased by users with an active paid subscription (Basic, Pro, Elite, or Super). Free tier users cannot purchase extra credits.
To purchase extra credits, you must:
- Have an active paid subscription (not free tier)
- Be signed in to your MetaPhotoAI account
- Have a valid payment method on file
How Extra Credits Work#
Usage Priority#
When you generate metadata, your credits are used in this order:
Monthly credits used first
Your subscription's monthly allocation is always consumed before extra credits.
Extra credits used second
Only after your monthly credits are exhausted will extra credits be deducted.
Extra credits persist
Unlike monthly credits, extra credits never reset or expire. They carry forward indefinitely.

Frequently Asked Questions#
Why can't free tier users buy extra credits?#
Extra credits are a benefit reserved for our paid subscribers. This helps maintain fair pricing and prevents abuse of the credit system. To purchase extra credits, simply upgrade to any paid tier (Basic or higher).
What happens if I refund extra credits?#
If you request a refund for extra credits, the credits will be removed from your balance. If you've already used some of the credits, your balance may go negative until it's reconciled.
Can I gift extra credits to another user?#
Currently, extra credits are non-transferable and tied to the account that purchased them.
Do extra credits work with local processing?#
Extra credits are specifically for cloud-based AI metadata generation. If you're using local processing with Ollama, no credits are consumed.
