iStock keyword generator with controlled vocabulary
Getty Images and iStock only accept keywords from their controlled vocabulary — a fixed list of approved terms — and silently drop everything else from your submission. MetaPhotoAI generates keywords drawn from that vocabulary, marks each image with its match status, and warns you before you upload files whose keywords weren't vocabulary-matched.

Vocabulary-matched keywords
With Controlled Vocabulary on, keywords are matched against the official term list during generation — so the terms you submit are terms the vocabulary recognises, not guesses that get discarded.
Per-image provenance
A shield badge shows whether an image's keywords are fully or partially vocabulary-matched, and any unmatched term is marked directly in the keyword list. Filter your whole library by match status.
Pre-upload check
Before delivery, MetaPhotoAI warns you if selected files carry keywords that weren't generated against the controlled vocabulary — catching problems before the agency does.
Required fields handled
Getty and iStock require an IPTC Country value; MetaPhotoAI prompts for a default and applies it wherever the field is unset, so submissions aren't held up on a missing basic.
How it works
- 01
Import
Drag in a folder of photos or videos — JPEG, PNG, TIFF, 50+ RAW formats and video all supported. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud unless you choose to.
- 02
Generate
MetaPhotoAI analyses each file and writes an agency-ready title, description and keyword set in seconds. About 1,500 files in 3 minutes.
- 03
Review
Batch-review and edit in one workspace. Adjust keyword counts, tone and per-agency settings before anything is written.
- 04
Export
Embed metadata into your files or export a CSV formatted for Adobe Stock, Shutterstock and other agencies — ready to upload.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Getty / iStock controlled vocabulary?
It is the fixed list of approved keyword terms that Getty Images and iStock use for search. Keywords outside the list are ignored at submission, which means a beautifully keyworded image can still end up nearly unfindable. Generating from the vocabulary avoids that silent loss.
Does this guarantee my keywords are accepted?
No tool can guarantee acceptance — agencies review content and metadata on their own criteria, and the vocabulary itself evolves. What MetaPhotoAI does is generate keywords drawn from the controlled vocabulary and show you, per image, which terms were matched, so far fewer of your keywords are discarded.
What happens to keywords I add by hand?
They stay — your edits are never overwritten. Keywords that weren't matched against the vocabulary (added manually or from your keyword settings) are simply marked so you can see at a glance which terms may not count at submission.
Can I use controlled vocabulary with local AI processing?
Controlled-vocabulary generation runs in the cloud, since matching against the vocabulary happens server-side. Local AI processing remains available for standard keyword generation.
Is MetaPhotoAI affiliated with Getty Images or iStock?
No. MetaPhotoAI is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Getty Images or iStock. References to their controlled vocabulary describe their published submission requirements.
Is it free to try?
